This thing has come a long way. Glad you kept working on it all these years. Also like the way the actual site is made.

Aside from a Kickstarter you might want to get this game on Steam's Greenlight. Good luck with this.

Thanks green! I did make a Concept Greenlight page on Steam, but it isn't the real deal, as the real greenlight costs like $100.

Here is the profile of what I mean:

And green, sometime I would really like to show you the game first hand and to see what you think of the engine. Maybe when its done, I can ask you to do a let's play of it? biggrin2.gif

Looking nice so far. It's probably a little too early but as long as you're making videos you should make a trailer at some point.

Also I'm gonna bookmark that Indiedb site, it looks like something I might stalk in the future.

I'm just curious to see how it's going to turn out after all these years. Most people don't have the patience to keep working on a project for as long as you've been working on this.

Yea, I have been working on this for a long time... haha. But really it doesn't feel that long. Only the last 2 to 3 years have been this project. While before it was an entirely different project really. I started over, and everything, is why.

Also, green, I wanted to share with you a mapping timelapse I just recorded. It is sped up by 300x bringing a 60 minute mapping session down to under 3 minutes.

Thanks for watching and let me know what you think.

Map looks pretty good. Also I like the lighting effect when you tested it out. Is it just going to be like that by default or are there torches or light spells?

Ah yes, the lighting effects.
So right now by default all maps have the same effect enabled, for testing mainly. But this will be a configuration option on a per map basis. So each map can have its own lighting overlay color and transparency. A transparency of none and black makes a pitch black room for example.

Any players who move around a map with a lighting overlay enabled will cause a light source to glow around them. In the example of the pitch black room, this will allow the player to just see whats around them.

However, player lighting can also be disabled, making it so the players don't emit light on a map by map basis. An example of this would be a pitch black room, with no light source, expect on events.

Speaking of events, we can also set each event to have its own unique light emitter or none for that matter. Those choices include the size of the circle, how big it grows, and what color it should be tinted. In time, I hope to also allow different shapes on events beyond just circles, but currently just a circle is in the engine.

At one point we were planning on giving the player an item they can use to light up the world, and it would use fuel. But to simplify the game and systems, this was cut. Instead, we are going to simply have you get the lantern after earning it from a quest. We will track you getting the lantern with a switch, and without the switch set to on, the map will be pitch black. And once the switch is on, then you will have a light source around you.

I am also thinking about making it so there is a day and night system when you are on outdoor maps. This system will cycle through different lighting overlay settings depending on the time of the day. It might be interesting.

A day and night system would definitely make things more entertaining (special enemies like vampires and such). If you can pull it off I say try to put that in.

And a lantern does like sound like a sensible option.

RpgLegend is still in development after all these years.

The biggest news in this regard is to say that I have started the game engine over yet again and this has set me back massively. However at the same time the story has been in development and has been heavily reworked and expanded, tropes be damned, its a pretty good story... thanks to the help of Elfwind!

I am working towards getting the game setup to allow multiple people to log in again and walk around together. And soon more systems will return and we will have the menus, events and combat back into the game. More soon!

And if you want to watch me work on it be sure to check out the dev stream.

You know I gotta say I admire the fact that you're still dedicated to working on this after all this time. Many people, including myself, quit on many of our older games.

I hope the final product is something you can be proud of. biggrin2.gif

10-year plans are always fun to work on.

Really serves as a measure of how one can improve over the years.
